Research: Tracking down the genetics and origins of the 4x21 scope

A 4x21 was listed and sold on GunsAmerica website in 2011: The description of the 4x21 refers to the scope as being a  'Combat Military Ordinance Elite (CMO) Illuminated Reticle Night Stalker 4x21'

RFI article with photo

Before the advent of the flat top AR's. mounting a scope meant fastening it to the carry handle. One company came up with a solution.  They were manufactured by Hakko in Japan (now Japan Optics) and imported under the names Colt, C-More and Combat Military Ordnance. A few were imported under the Hakko name and sold by Accusport.

Tracking down the existence of Colt Optics

Colt Optics had the same address as C-More Systems in Manassas, Virginia.  The users manual in the background of this image below clearly shows Colt Optics in Manassas, Va. as their address and the optic with the manual is the 4x21 RFI scope.

Vertu Corporation, d/b/a C-MORE Systems, is an American manufacturer of firearms and firearm accessories. Vertu was established in Manassas, Virginia in 1993 and the C-MORE Competition name was established in 1999.  Their primary products are red dot sights, marketed as being for M1911 pistols, Glock pistols, and AR-15s.  Wikipedia

proof of Colt marked box for 4 x 21 RFI scope

Proof Colt 4x21 RFI scope was sold by a Colt division called Colt Optics and made in Japan.

Proof of the existence of Colt Optics from a discussion about another (not the 4x21) scope by an employee at C-More Systems:

"These were demo scopes for the military. It is a C-More Systems scope branded by Colt Optical."
